Occupational Therapy sessions vary dramatically in Neuro-rehabilitation, as treatment is dependent on how the individual presents and what they wish to achieve. Most common treatments include:

  •  Increasing independence in activities of daily living, for example washing and dressing, cooking, shopping, driving and using public transport.

  •  Exploration of life roles to enhance quality of life.

  •  Upper limb assessment and treatment programmes - including GRASP programme and constraint induced movement therapy.

  •  Assessments of cognition (including memory, planning, organisation and processing skills) and perception (visual and spatial awareness) and development of cognitive rehabilitation programmes.

  •  Support in embedding cognitive strategies into every day life.

  •  Brain injury education

  •  Fatigue management

  •  Falls prevention advice

  •  Work placement visits

  •  Environmental assessments and recommendations for equipment and minor adaptations

  •  Signposting to other services for support and advice including seating specialists, driving test centres and disability employment advisors.

Alternatively, Occupational Therapy can consist of a "one off" assessment of an individuals mobility and functional transfers around their home environment.
