"Our son Lewis has been treated by Penny since August 2022. We initially got in touch as Lewis suffered an acquired brain inquiry due to a near drowning accident in June 2021 but after a lengthy stay in hospital and rehabilitation we needed to find a professional Neuro Physiotherapist who could understand Lewis’s medical history.

Lewis is shy and reserved but Penny really got the best out of Lewis. Lewis was confined in a wheelchair at home, his mobility was really affected and he would get tired very easily. Penny never gave up on Lewis and made him work hard but she always knew how far to push him and when to stop.

Over the many months when Penny saw Lewis, she always made Lewis smile, and he would “open up” to her more so than his own Mum and Dad! She suggested different exercises to do at home, she also told him to do more in the house like cooking, making his own sandwiches, washing up etc. This gave Lewis a purpose in life rather than sitting there and feeling sorry for himself.
Lewis is now using a walker around the house, we cook together, he has been out using his walker, although if he has to walk a distance he would use his wheelchair.

Penny encouraged Lewis to get his driving license back and he bought himself a Mercedes AMG which he is really proud of.

We will always be indebted to Penny, she became part of Lewis’s life and ours and we loved seeing her when she visited our home.

At the end of November we moved house which unfortunately is too far for Penny to travel to, but she came down in December with a colleague of hers to do a “hand over.” That’s true dedication. She is passionate and will always give her all and for that we want to say a big “Thank you, you are amazing!"

"We highly recommend Neurotherapy Partnership; their service has been outstanding in improving our mother’s quality of life following a serious accident.

Our mother had a bad fall aged 93 and ended up moving from hospital to a nursing home, bed ridden and unable to do anything for herself. We arranged for Rhian to have weekly sessions with our mother with the aim of getting mother to be able to hold a book and feed herself and so regain some quality of life. Rhian was brilliant at engaging mother and after about 4 or 5 sessions mother had regained significant use of her hands and has continued to improve so that she can once again feed herself, hold a cup, read a book, operate a phone and operate the TV.

What also impressed us was that Rhian spotted that mother could benefit from input from a physio and we agreed to joint sessions with Rowan. The objective of these sessions was to get mother to a point where a sarasteady could be used instead of a hoist and ideally get her to the point of being able to stand and do transfers herself. This is still ongoing but a firm foundation has been laid for future progress. Both therapists at all times showed respect and were very compassionate towards our mother whilst also being encouraging.

In a nutshell the input of Rhian and Rowan has made a massive difference to the quality of our mother’s life as she has gone from being bedbound and unable to do anything to being able to read and feed herself. "

"I would like to thank Rhian, Hannah and Rowan for their superb work.
My father is in a nursing home and a year ago his posture was in a terrible state. The work and encouragement they have provided to correct this has been outstanding. He has gone from scrunched up with stiff legs (and hand) to now standing with assistance (using a sara steady).

They are extremely patient and very kind to listen to my father when he is not happy or uncomfortable and provide just the right level of encouragement to get him to carry out the exercises when he might not be in the mood.

My father now has a wheelchair that is comfortable for him and easier for the staff to take him down to socialise with the other residents, and I don’t believe he would have got there without the work of Rhian, Hannah and Rowan. They are truly hard working, lovely human beings and worth every penny."

"Thank you Penny, for all you have done for us. We shall continue to follow your advice and complete the exercises. The contacts you made for us are amazing. We would not be in a very good state without them. We wish you every success in the future."

"I had an aneurysm which resulted in a brain haemorrhage in October 2018 and have been treated by Rowan since November 2019. I have to say that I have always found Rowan to be honest, reliable and professional in her work with me. I always look forward to her visits."

"Becky and Rhian took the time to get to know me and understand what i wanted to achieve and worked with me in setting achievable goals in clearly defined and laid out stages. Becky found out that pre-accident, I had been a keen cyclist and skier and sailor. As such she found out where I could get a reintroduction to skiing and cycling and I am due to get back in a boat with Sussex Sailability this month.

Rhian has been instrumental in helping me understand and address/cope with the effects of the damage to my memory and strategies and programmes to help offset those effects and bring clarity to my day to day tasks and planning.

That Neurotherapy Partnership Team have worked with and communicated openly with the NHS Team who were initially the core care providers after my discharge from hospital has meant that my ongoing therapy programme has been progressed very smoothly and I have been impressed in how they have worked WITH me to achieve my goals and they continue to challenge me to ensure that I keep moving forward. There can be little doubt that the Neurotherapy Team have played a significant role in supporting my recovery and my resumption of an independent life. They have worked with me as supportive and positively challenging partner and for that I am hugely thankful."

"My husband, Jim, started working with Rhian in April 2015 following a major stroke in December 2014 at the age of 52 which left him paralysed down his left side and a significant amount of brain damage.

Rhian was keen to establish Jim’s short and long term goals and within a few weeks, with her encouragement, dedication and support he was able to once again confidently dress himself, prepare a meal and carry out simple tasks around the home and garden which had been necessary for him to re-learn.

Jim has recently started working with Rowan for physiotherapy and once again, with her expertise, he is improving beyond our belief, gaining strength, coordination and confidence.
I cannot thank Rhian and Rowan enough for their professionalism and complete dedication."

"Rhian came to us several weeks after my husband had his stroke. After the initial assessment each time she came she set us tasks and ideas on how to improve his condition, capabilities and understanding of what had happened.

She was also a big help to me discussing my role in his rehabilitation. She was a big support, always professional in a polite and kind way."

"I was introduced to the NeuroTherapy Partnership as a result of having a stroke followed by Coronavirus, and the after-affects of both together left me very confused.
Rhian and Rowan between them helped me to understand what was going on, and gave me exercises to improve my physical and mental strength and researched for me ongoing community support. And they followed up. Having explained what was happening, I felt much better how to cope with the after-affects of the illness.
I am certainly now in a better condition thanks to the very professional support I received from NeuroTherapy."

"My husband had an ‘out of the blue’ stroke, which turned our family’s lives upside down. When he returned home from hospital, I felt frightened, alone and utterly overwhelmed. Until, Rhian and Rowan from Neurotherapy Partnership, commenced his rehabilitation. Both have been a major part in this. Their first class knowledge, encouragement and confidence has always been delivered in a calm and professional manner. They have given us support and strength throughout and helped us believe in the future. They have been truly incredible and we don’t know where we would have been without them. They have most certainly aided in my husband’s recovery and have provided him with a big leap forward and given him the stepping stones needed, to continue on his journey of recovery. Our heartfelt thanks to them both."

"I had a stroke in January 2020 and spent 6 months in hospital with two operations before being sent home having to be lifted in and out of bed on a hoist – which I hated. One of my sons found details of the physios who came to help. Rowan and Rhian gave me exercises to help and praised me every time I achieved a new goal. It wasn’t long before I was able to try to use the sara stedy and could use it to get out of bed into my chair and now I am able to get across the bed in readiness to get on the sara stedy. My left-handed writing has improved quite a bit, and I am now able to make cards once again. Thank you ladies for all your help, and the encouragement to make me want to get on with life."

"I am so impressed with the service I have received from Neurotherapy Partnership.
Rowan has helped me to realise my potential with all her support and encouragement. As a result I have grown in confidence, just when I thought I was hitting a dead end.
I have gone from being so unconfident that I wouldn't step out of the house by myself, to fulfilling my life long dream of working abroad for the summer - something I believed would no longer be possible. I now feel "I can stand on my own two feet with confidence", both physically and mentally. Thank you."
